What’s black and white,
What’s right and wrong,
In those I can’t fit,
Won’t ever belong,

I’m alone in a sea,
Of shapeless forms,
Petty little thoughts,
And social norms

Subtle differences in me,
Shown in plain view,
My many shades of grey,
Disturbing you

Maybe enough perhaps,
To make you stare,
Or gossip or whisper,
But I don’t care

I’ll admit something,
That clearly you won’t,
Although grey exists,
Black and white don’t

When you’re uncomfortable,
 Realize it’s not really me,
But perhaps, just perhaps,
Fear who you might be…
